full malfunction: A full malfunction occurs when a film cannot be viewed due to technical difficulties with the provided media. In contrast to a partial malfunction, a full malfunction only affects films that couldn't be viewed for more than 5% of their total runtime. This includes films that had unplayable media. Because the film could not be viewed, it does not count as having made the official list nor is it affected by the rule of purgatory. As such, any film affected by a full malfunction can be viewed and proposed for later MovieFests.
