THE PHILRULZ DICTIONARY

the rule of purgatory: The Rule of Purgatory is a dormant (or yet-to-be-used) rule stating that any film selected but not viewed is ineligible for selection in any other year. An example would be that Ali -- which was selected in the second year of MovieFest but not viewed -- could never be selected again, regardless of passing the veto test. The rule of purgatory can be particularly difficult to manage given that no written record is kept of purgatoried films, nor has it officially been raised for public consideration as it is instead one of Alaay's many arbitrary draconian measures.
